For your convenience, each patient room has a telephone. Semi-private rooms have two phones. Dialing instructions appear on each telephone or you may ask your nurse for assistance.
You may provide relatives and friends with the number on the telephone in your room, so they may call you directly from outside the medical center. In order to assure proper rest for our patients, no calls should be made or received before 7:30 a.m. or after 9:00 p.m.
Public telephones are available for your conveniences on East and West Campus. There are pay phones near the West entrance as well as on each floor (second floor - near the surgery waiting room and third through sixth floors - near the east units). On West Campus, pay phones are located on the upper level near the Information Desk at the north end and near the elevators on the south end. On the lower level, a pay phone is located on the north end near Conference Room #7.
Cell phone signals may interfere with medical devices. Cell phones should be turned off in all areas of the hospital except: the first floor front entrance lobby, the Mercy Emergency Center waiting room and the west entrance by the Mercy Cancer Center. Cell phones may be used outside any hospital entrance.
Telephone devices for the deaf (TDD), speaker phones and amplifiers are available upon request.
Please do not hesitate to contact the nursing staff if assistance is needed.
Every patient room at Mercy - North Iowa is equipped with a color television and cable TV, however, not all channels are available in every room due to television capabilities. A list of the available channels is provided in your room. Please be considerate of other patients by playing television sets softly and by turning off your set at bedtime.
