Sleep-related disorders can range from sleep-walking, bedwetting, nightmares, or night-terror attacks to:

  • A good night sleep isn't onluy in your dreamsNarcolepsy is a condition which people may fall asleep at inappropriate times such as while eating, talking, or driving. Such individuals also experience sudden muscle weakness and may fall down, especially when experiencing strong emotions like laughter, fear, or anger.
  • Sleep Apnea with Snoring occurs when a person is unable to breathe properly during sleep. Breathing may stop for periods of fifteen seconds or more – several hundred times a night. Loud snoring or labored breathing during sleep are other symptoms of this disorder. Some effects of this may be excessive daytime sleepiness, high blood pressure, and heart disease.
  • Oxygenation Problems occur when people have chronic breathing problems or lung disease. Symptoms often worsen during sleep. A complete evaluation of such respiratory disease sometimes requires measurement of blood oxygenation during sleep.
  • Insomnia: Insomnia is the inability to fall asleep regularly or experiencing frequent awakenings during sleep. It is a symptom that can be caused by depression, stress, noise, biological functioning, irregular sleeping schedules and by drinking caffeinated beverages close to bedtime.

  • Restless Leg Syndrome: Typically, individuals are unaware of leg movements while they sleep, and only become aware of leg jerks through an evaluation at a sleep center. Because of the intense physical activity, you may not get the rest you need and feel excessively sleepy.
