Wound Clinic
Mercy Wound Clinic treats people of all ages who may have a chronic wound that has occurred as a result of an accident, surgery, diabetes or unknown cause. The Wound Clinic is organized to provide a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary team approach to chronic wound care. The team members meet weekly and include:
- nurse practitioners
- physical therapist
- wound specialist
- dietitian
- general surgeon
- soft good specialist
Upon receipt of a referral, an admission packet is sent to the client. In the initial evaluation, the team will assess the client's complex wound care needs; coordinate referrals, treatment and follow-up in the initial evaluation. The client may be referred for an x-ray, blood work and vascular studies, or to other specialty physicians depending on the specific wound problems.
Diabetic footwear, certified compression garment fitting, certified foot and nail care, and a variety of wound products are also available when deemed appropriate.
