Small Talk

Summer Speech and Language Program for Preschool and School Age Children

Improving CommunicationCommunication Problems
Some communication problems that could be addressed:

  • Articulation – the way speech sounds are produced
  • Delayed speech and language skills
  • Dysfluency (stuttering)
  • Swallowing/feeding problems
  • Cognitive deficits
  • Motor planning deficits

Playing togetherSchedule
The program is offered twice a week for an eight-week period each summer.At the end of the program a celebration for all participants is held.

Format
Children receive 1-2 sessions per week of individual therapy in Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa’s Speech Pathology Department located at Cheslea Creek. Make-up sessions will only be provided when the therapist has to cancel an appointment. As part of the Small Talk program, group sessions also are offered on Friday mornings for children preschool through age 10 years. The group sessions are optional and space is limited.

Cost
Treatment is provided at a reduced cost. Please consult with your insurance company regarding coverage for your child.

Enrollment
Due to limited enrollment, please contact Speech Pathology Department to schedule your child’s Small Talk appointment times.
