Pediatrics Services

Your child is too sick to go to school, day care or the babysitter today. You want to stay home, but sometimes you just can't. That's where Mercy Kids Care comes in. Let our nursing professionals give your child loving care and give you peace of mind.

Mercy Kids Care is designed to care for infants and children who are too ill to be cared for in a group setting, but not ill enough to warrant admission to the hospital in a traditional sense. And, they are too young to stay home alone. The children will stay in a regular pediatric room at the health center and will be overseen by Mercy Medical Center - North Iowa pediatric nurses, nurse aides and volunteers.

  • Mercy Kids Care is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week (dependent on space availability). Please call two hours in advance so that we can prepare for your child. Minimum stay is one hour.

  • Children will be carefully screened and assigned rooms according to illness. Strict sanitation and infection control methods will be followed. A child with chicken pox cannot be accepted into the program. If your child's condition worsens while at Mercy Kids Care, you or another designated person will be contacted. A child with a temperature of 103 degrees or more must be seen by a physician before utilizing Mercy Kids Care services.

  • The hourly charge for colleagues is $2.50 and the price for non employees is $3.50 per hour. A meal tray may be requested for a charge of $1.50 if your child is at Mercy Kids Care during meal time. Liquids and nutritional snacks will be provided at no additional charge. If a child needs to be isolated for the protection of other children, there is an additional fee of $2.50 per hour.

  • Mercy Kids Care is not covered by government or private insurance, therefore payment is due when the child is picked up.
