Hospice Facts
- Hospice of North Iowa began providing care as a community-based
organization in October of 1982.
- Through the use of satellite offices, Hospice of North Iowa serves sixteen
counties in North Central Iowa.
- Hospice of North Iowa is licensed as a Hospice in the state of
Iowa.
- Hospice of North Iowa is certified by Medicare and Medicaid.
- Hospice of North Iowa works cooperatively with other health care
facilities and organizations in North Central Iowa.
- Medicare certification was received in September of 1984.
- Renamed Hospice of North Iowa (HNI) in 1987.
- Opened its first satellite office in Hampton in
1987.
- Began providing services to patients in nursing facilities in
1989.
- Opened a second satellite office in Forest
City in 1990.
- Opened a third satellite office in Charles
City in 1992.
- The Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit opened in June 1992.
- Became a subsidiary of Mercy Medical Center- North Iowa in July
1997.
- Employs approximately 120 individuals.
- There are approximately 600 trained volunteers that are integral
to HNI’s success.
- Accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO).
