Hospice Bereavement Services

Hospice of North Iowa recognizes the family as a unit of care. Concern for the family does not end with the death of a loved one. Hospice offers the following bereavement services:
- Monthly Letters
- Letters of encouragement and support sent during the first year
following the death of a loved one. They are designed to assist in
understanding the grief experience in private and to convey hope
for the future.
- Bereavement Volunteer Support
- A bereavement volunteer may be assigned to provide bereavement
support by listening and assisting with role changes and adjustments.
- Memorial Services
- Remembrance and ritualization are valued parts of the grief process.
Special services honor all patients Hospice has served.
- Individual Grief Consultations
- Sometimes people benefit from brief professional consultations.
Hospice offers this, on a limited basis, to community members experiencing
grief.
- Understanding Grief and Loss
- This seven-week program offers support and education to individuals
who have experienced a loss.
- Youth Support
Monthly Letters - Youth letters are sent for a year following the death of a loved
one and provide support and encouragement. They are intended to provide
education about the grief process and to give hope for the future.
- Camp Greentree
- Youth, ages 7-14, are invited to attend an annual bereavement camp in the summer. The camp offers kids the opportunity to express their grief with peers who have similar feelings.
