Support Groups
The Diabetes Program staff believes ongoing motivation and support are vital components of the program. Two support groups have been established to fulfill this need. The Parent-Youth Support Group draws families in the area together to share information and offer support. This group sponsors an annual Juvenile Diabetes Walk to Cure Diabetes. The group does not meet on a regular basis, however it offers a newsletter to keep members up to date on new information and several special programs throughout the year.
An Adult Diabetes Support Group meets on the third Thursday during the months of September (Fall Festival), October, November, January, February, March, April, and May. Meetings are held in the conference center (lower level) on the West Campus of Mercy Medical Center - North Iowa, 910 N. Eisenhower Avenue, Mason City, at 6:30 p.m. The group enables adults and their families to get the latest information about diabetes and ongoing support.
