Andrea Campbell, RN, is September’s recipient for Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa’s DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. Each month a nurse from Mercy– North Iowa is honored with The DAISY Award, which recognizes the super-human efforts nurses perform every day.
Andrea Campbell is a nurse in Mercy’s Birth Center. A former patient nominated her for the award:
“I was pregnant and was admitted to the hospital to be induced at 16 weeks since the doctors could no longer find a heartbeat. We knew this day would come after finding out our baby had a very large cystic hygroma that would eventually make his heart stop beating. I received wonderful care the whole time I was there. Each nurse was very caring and Dr. LeDuc and Dr. Thorn were extremely caring. Being induced into a miscarriage is a horrible experience, however, Andrea Campbell made me very comfortable and at peace with the situation. Andrea was full of grace and very compassionate during the whole process. Andrea took the time to sit down and explain everything we should expect. Throughout the day, we got our questions answered as they came up, but when Andrea started her shift, she went above and beyond to answer all our questions and talk us through the process. Andrea not only made sure I was ok, but she also comforted my husband and our parents during this experience. I feel truly blessed that God put me in the care of Andrea during this awful time in my life. Andrea exemplifies all the criteria for the DAISY Award and truly deserves this great honor.”
