Rose BrantnerRose Brantner

Behavioral Services

Rose Brantner became the Director of Behavioral Services in June of 2015.  She oversees operations on the inpatient Mental Health Unit, the Outpatient Behavioral Services Clinic and the Intensive Outpatient and Partial Hospitalization Programs.  Rose earned her Masters in Social Work from New York University with a concentration in clinical practice with individuals and families.  She completed a year-long internship at New York Presbyterian Hospital on an inpatient unit where she was exposed to a wide range of psychiatric disorders and treatments. Rose has worked as therapist and a member of the Behavioral Services treatment team since 2012.  She has experience providing treatment to individuals and families on an inpatient and outpatient basis. Her clinical interests include individual and family crisis intervention, group treatment and integrated behavioral healthcare.  


Mike Benak

Mike Benak has a Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Iowa.  He is a licensed independent social worker. He worked in a residential treatment center for emotionally and behaviorally disturbed children and adolescents for 27 years. Since 2006, Mike has specialized at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa with children and adolescents and their families providing inpatient and outpatient therapy services including but not limited to play therapy and talk therapy.

Molly Bonin graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a Master's of Social Work Degree. She has a background in Trauma Informed Care. Molly is a Licensed Master of Social Work in the state of Iowa and has past experience providing services to children and adults with chronic mental illness, substance use disorders, and intellectual disabilities. She has specific interest in individuals with chronic mental illness. Molly uses a solution-focused, strengths-based approach to therapy and provides services to patients on both an inpatient and outpatient basis.

Dr. Jill Burkley is a licensed clinical psychologist and registered play therapist who graduated from Forest Institute of Professional Psychology. She specializes in work with children, adolescents, and families.  Dr. Burkley utilizes sand tray therapy, play therapy, and art therapy as well as talk therapy in her clinical work.   She also completes psychological evaluations with children and adolescents.  Dr. Burkley has been practicing in North Iowa since 2002.

Dr. Mia Hegarty-Roach is a licensed psychologist who also holds a postdoctoral masters degree in clinical psychopharmacology.  Dr. Hegarty received her doctoral degree from The University of South Dakota and her postdoctoral degree from Farleigh Dickinson University, New Jersey.  Dr. Hegarty enjoys her clinical practice, working with individuals over the age of seven.  She provides individual and family therapy services at Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona, Iowa.  She also provides psychological evaluations for those preparing for bariatric surgery to alleviate obesity-related health problems.

Dr. Natalie Hillman Alsop, Ph.D., is a clinical child psychologist who has been with Mercy Behavioral Services since March of 1999.  Natalie received her bachelor's degree from Concordia College, Moorhead, Minnesota and her master's and doctorate from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.  She works with children, adolescents and families with depression, anxiety, ADHD and other behavioral problems at the Forest City Mercy Family Clinic and Mercy Behavioral Services in Mason City. Dr. Alsop also works in our school-based therapy program in the Forest City Elementary, Middle and High Schools in Forest City, Iowa.

Angela Irvin graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a BA in Psychology and from the University of Kentucky with a Master of Social Work Degree.  She is a Licensed Independent Social Worker in the state of Iowa and a member of the National Association of Social Workers. She has been a therapist with Mercy since 2006.  She provides individual, group and family therapy to adults, adolescents and their families during inpatient hospitalization on the Mental Health Unit.  She provides assistance to patients in making appropriate connections to community resources.

Deanna Kozlowski graduated from the University of Chicago with a Masters in Social Work with a specialization in clinical social work and school social work.  She is a Licensed Independent Social Worker in the state of Iowa.  Deanna has past experience working in hospitals, schools, private practice and community mental health agencies.  Her clinical interests include anxiety and depressive disorders and obsessive compulsive disorder.  Deanna is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy but believes in utilizing multiple therapies and techniques to best meet the needs of each individual she works with.  She provides individual and group therapy services at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa on an outpatient and inpatient basis.

 


Dr. Crystal Menken

Dr. Crystal Menken is a licensed clinical psychologist who graduated from Forest Institute of Professional Psychology.  She specializes in work with children, adolescents, and families.  Dr. Menken uses play, art, and talk therapy in her clinical work.  Dr. Menken has been practicing in North Iowa since 2005 and currently see patients of the Mercy Family Residency physicians at the Residency Clinic and also functions as a behavioral science coordinator for the Residency Program. 

Dr. Brent Seaton

Dr. Brent Seaton earned his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of South Dakota in 1997.  He completed his internship with a focus in neuropsychology at the Pittsburgh V.A. Health System in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  In 1999, he completed his two-year fellowship in clinical neuropsychology at the University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, New York. His interests include neuropsychological and psychological assessment, dialectical behavior therapy, and the neuropsychology of schizophrenia and emotional regulation.

Linda Vold received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Luther College and Masters in Social Work from the University of Iowa with a clinical emphasis.  She is a Licensed Independent Social Worker in the state of Iowa.   Linda has been at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa providing clinical services to adolescents and adults on both an inpatient and outpatient basis since 2001.  She provides a variety of therapies for individuals and families.  She is trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and has a strength-focused approach.

Kelly Ziffra earned both her Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree in Social Work from Loyola University Chicago with a specialization in health practice. Kelly is a Licensed Independent Social Worker in the state of Iowa. Kelly completed internships at Loyola University Medical Center and Rainbow Hospice, focusing on medical social work. Her past experience includes providing services within hospice settings, working with dialysis patients, and providing individual therapy to patients struggling with mental health issues. Kelly's clinical interests include working with individuals experiencing medical/health problems, end-of-life issues, bereavement, and mental health support. She provides individual and group therapy at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa on an outpatient and inpatient basis.

Nic Zrostlik
Mental Health Counselor

Nic Zrostlik earned his Bachelors degree in psychology from Iowa State University in 2009 and continued on to get his Masters degree in mental health counseling from the University of Northern Iowa in 2013.  He is currently an active member of the American Counseling Association and has previous experience working in residential treatment facilities throughout the state with populations including children, adolescents and adults with special needs.  Nic's clinical interests include working with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, and adjustment disorders.  As a Mental Health Counselor for Mercy Medical Center - North Iowa, he will provide inpatient and outpatient individual, group and family therapy.
