Mercy Sleep Clinic to Open July 2

A multidisciplinary approach to treating sleep disorders

MASON CITY, IA…Mercy Sleep Clinic brings a multidisciplinary approach to treating sleep disorders by providing patients with access to both a  pulmonologist and neurologist who specialize in sleep care.  Arvind Perathur, M.D., Pulmonologist, and Alireza Yarahmadi, M.D., Neurologist will see patients by appointment every Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. starting July 2. Mercy Sleep Clinic is located in the same office as Mercy Internal Medicine Clinic on Mercy – North Iowa’s East Campus, 1000 4th Street, S.W., Mason City.

Mercy Sleep Clinic also has a licensed respiratory therapist available during appointments to arrange in-home sleep tests such as Apnea Link or Pulse Oximetry.  The therapist ensures each patient has a proper mask fit and is educated about the CPAP machine before leaving the clinic. If the physician determines more extensive testing is needed, such as an overnight sleep study, patients will be provided a tour of Mercy’s Sleep Lab to become more familiar with the facility, the staff and the procedure prior to testing.  Sleep studies also are performed at various Mercy Health Network – North Iowa hospital locations: Algona, Britt, Emmetsburg, Hampton, Iowa Falls, New Hampton and Osage.

Prior to joining Mercy Internal Medicine Clinic and Mercy Sleep Clinic, Dr. Perathur completed a Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine fellowship at Albany Medical Center, in Albany, New York and an Internal Medicine residency at St. Barnabas Hospital in Bronx, New York. He is a Board Certified Internist and Board Certified in Pulmonary and Critical Care.  Dr. Yarahmadi completed a neurophysiology fellowship and neurology residency at SUNY Update Medical University in Syracuse, New York.  He is Board Certified in Neurology and Vascular by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.  Both physicians have extensive training in sleep disorders and are very enthusiastic in bringing the most recent advances and high quality care to patients with sleep disorders in North Iowa.

If you or a family member has difficulty breathing or stops breathing during sleep, snores, falls asleep at inappropriate times, has insomnia, suffers from unusual sensation or discomfort in legs when resting, or feels excessively fatigued during the day, please speak to your primary care physician to arrange a referral to Mercy Sleep Clinic.  For more information about Mercy Sleep Clinic, please call 641.422.6999 or 800.743.4423.
