We encourage family and friends to be with their loved one while in the hospital. We view family and friends as our partners in the patient's care and we support their presence and participation in the patient's caretaking and decision-making, but only to the extent that the patient would like.
Visitors may be asked to leave a room if the patient desires. We ask visitors to be sensitive that hospitalized patients need sleep and rest periods.
The safety of patients is our first concern. When children visit, we ask that they be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Visiting hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.; visitors after 9:00 p.m. will need to enter through the Emergency Department, as all other doors will be locked. Once inside the Emergency Department, associates will verify approval with the unit staff. Mercy Security will escort all approved visitors to the elevator or stairwell.
Mercy – North Iowa is tobacco free for your health. All our facilities and grounds are tobacco free, inside and out. This provides a safer environment for everyone who comes here to work.
Mercy – North Iowa does not allow balloons (latex or Mylar) within the hospital. People have developed allergies towards latex, which can lead to serious illness and in some incidents, even death. While Mylar balloons do not contain latex, it is hard to distinguish between the two materials as new designs/products are available that look very similar to each other.
