Contributions are used to assist with expenses of caring for patients and their families. Although nearly all private insurance companies have a hospice clause, reimbursement from Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance covers only a portion of program expenses for hospice services. If there is no coverage for hospice, Hospice of North Iowa provides care regardless of a person's ability to pay. Contributions are used to make up this difference and help pay for expenses of caring for patients and their families, unless specified differently by the donor. Therefore, Hospice of North Iowa relies to a great extent on donations.
Hospice of North Iowa gratefully accepts contributions in memory of a deceased friend or relative. We are always grateful when one of our patient's families designates Hospice of North Iowa as a memorial recipient. We are also thankful when we are designated as a memorial recipient from a family not involved in the Hospice program. This is also true for those families who remember an out-of-town relative or friend with a memorial contribution to us.
A Memorial Plaque recognizing cumulative gifts of $1,000 or more is located at the Hospice of North Iowa Center in Mason City. Each engraved plate on the plaque includes 3 lines with 40 spaces per line.
Commemorative Brick Walkway:
Just taking a brief walk on the commemorative brick walkways located at the Hospice of North Iowa Center in Mason City will touch your heart. Surrounded by landscaping, beautiful in any season, are hundreds of personalized bricks engraved in memory of loved ones and in honor of those living. A gift of $100 provides the donor with an engraved 4" x 8" brick to be placed in one of the walkways. The bricks are deeply etched with a protected inscription and each brick holds a maximum of three lines, with thirteen spaces on each line. If you are interested in purchasing a commemorative brick, please click here to obtain a form. A 12"x12" brick is also available for gifts of $5,000 or more. For more information on this brick, please contact the Hospice office at 641-428-6210.
Tree of Life:
The Tree of Life is a special event held at the end of each year. With a donation of any amount, a light is placed on a tree of life in remembrance of a loved one or in honor of someone living. A tree lighting ceremony is held in several communities throughout North Iowa.
