Since 1947, Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa has offered instructional and clinical training to those who wish to become registered as radiologic technologists.
The Department of Radiology includes Diagnostic Radiology, Interventional Radiography, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, Computed Tomography, and Magnetic Resonance Imaging. The department is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Mercy
Medical Center-North Iowa School of Radiologic Technology is committed to
a curriculum that provides students with the knowledge, performance skills
and professional behaviors to enable them to perform the major tasks typically
required of an entry level radiologic technologist.
This is a 4 semester, 2 summer session program beginning the third week of August each year. Students may spend up to 40 hours per week in the program, which includes both clinical and academic time. During the program, the student will attend clinical practice 2 weekends (4 days) and 6 weeks of evening hours. Mercy Medical Center - North Iowa is a Level II trauma hospital. We therefore feel that the student can learn much by attending clinical practice during these special hours.
If you would like an application packet, please contact us and we would be happy to send one to you or you may print off application and reference forms from this website. Please print and use two reference forms.
We hold several information sessions about the profession and our school several times throughout the year at the hospital. Please check the information session page for dates and times. All applicants must attend one information session before turning in their application packet.
The completed application form, official transcripts of college and/or high school, $20 non-refundable application fee, two reference forms, information session attendance record, and ACT test scores must be submitted before an applicant will be considered for a personal interview. All information must be received by December 15th. Interviews are held in January, with selection in March, for the class beginning in August.
