Cancer Rehabilitation Program

At Mercy Rehab Services we are dedicated to helping cancer survivors function at the highest level possible. Cancer treatment often causes significant pain, fatigue and disability for survivors. Through our STAR Program (Survivorship Training and Rehabilitation), our goal is to minimize these side effects and to encourage cancer survivors to have the best quality of life possible. The STAR Program provides patients with coordinated cancer rehabilitation supported by a team of certified STAR Clinicians and Providers.

As a STAR Program patient, you will receive comprehensive cancer rehabilitation treatment to improve the symptoms affecting your daily functioning and quality of life. These may include fatigue, musculoskeletal pain, joint stiffness, limb swelling (lymphedema), weakness, memory problems, balance, and issues with talking or swallowing.

Our Team
Our cancer rehabilitation program is offered by a group of trained professionals who successfully completed the STAR Program
Certification Course. Our team consists of physicians, nurses, physicaltherapists, occupational therapists,speech-language pathologists.

Each team member provides expertise, guidance, training and support throughout your rehabilitation treatment.

Your Rehabilitation Plan
Your cancer rehabilitation plan will depend on individualized goals that focus on increasing strength and energy, managing pain and improving your functioning and quality of life. Additional resources are also available to you if you need them. A helpful tool is the STAR Program Survivor Guidebook, which provides valuable tips including how to set specific goals as well as suggestions about exercise, nutrition, and sleep.

Your STAR Program Survivor Guidebook will be available to you at your first therapy visit.

Insurance Coverage
Most cancer rehabilitation services in the STAR Program are reimbursed by health insurance providers. Check your insurance plan for specific rehabilitation
