Rod Schlader has been appointed Regional Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to the Iowa Region of Trinity Health, effective February 1. In his new position, Rod will remain within the Mercy family and still maintain his ties with Mercy – North Iowa, including keeping his office in Mason City.
Trinity Health, Mercy - North Iowa parent organization out of Novi, MI, is formalizing a regional operating structure across the country as part of the natural evolution of healthcare. This structure will support greater speed to unify and accomplish strategic operating objectives and outcomes.
Rod has been with Mercy – North Iowa since 1989 beginning as Director of Regional Finance before advancing to Controller in 1996. Rod has provided CFO leadership in Mason City since 2001 and also served as the Interim CEO in 2012. Rod’s knowledge of the region and Trinity Health, combined with his strong CFO and strategic business sense will position him well for this role.
As Regional CFO, Rod will be accountable for financial stewardship within the region, including functioning as a key partner to Dave and Trinity Health MO Senior Leadership in development of strategies and evaluation of new business opportunities; development and oversight of a strategic financial and capital plan which supports both regional and Unified Enterprise Ministry strategies; development of the region’s operating budget; achievement of the region’s budget through proactive engagement with Trinity Health and MHN leadership, and ensuring the integrity of all financial information and reporting.
Mercy – North Iowa will actively recruit a Vice President of Financial Services. That person will be accountable to lead financial stewardship of Mercy – North Iowa, ensuring that financial strategies and operational tactics are progressing forward.
