The ninth annual Terry Wedmore Memorial Run, Ride, Walk or Wag will be held on Saturday, September 1 at Zeidler Park in Rockwell. This year’s theme is “Join the Fight, One Step at a Time.”
This event is organized to honor and remember Terry Wedmore, a former Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa associate. Proceeds raised from the event will support Mercy Cancer Center services, cancer research and education.
The event has activities for everyone in the family -- a 5K race, 2-mile walk or wag, a 10-mile bike ride, a children’s fun run for children under the age of 8, a general store with home baked goods for sale, and a basket raffle for numerous theme baskets.
Pre-registration by August 15 is recommended for the run, ride, walk or wag to ensure an event t-shirt.
Registration forms can be found on Mercy – North Iowa’s website www.mercynorthiowa.com under View All Services, then Cancer Center.
Tickets for the raffle are $1 each or $5 for six and can be purchased by calling Mercy Foundation at 641-428-7740 or the Wedmore Family at 641-822-3225. Event t-shirts are available for purchase for $15.
Registration on event day will be held from 7:45 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. with the bike ride beginning at 8:45 a.m. and the walk or wag following.
Everyone has a family member or friend fighting a cancer diagnosis and this is an opportunity to have fun while supporting their fight and offering hope against a horrible disease.
Contributions for the event may be made to Mercy Foundation and mailed to: Marsha Wedmore, P.O. Box 109, Rockwell, Iowa 50469. For more information on this event, contact Marsha Wedmore at 641-822-3225.
