Students with Autism benefit from specific educational supports to improve a child’s educational success.  Iowa AEA Autism Resource Teams  provide consultation to a child’s teacher(s ) when requested by a parent or teacher through a referral form.  The Area Education Agency (AEA) also provides teacher training workshops.  Parents and Iowa administrators and teachers are encouraged to be aware of Iowa Best Practice Guidelines.  Parents work with educators to develop an Individual Education Program (IEP) and the use the IEP process to plan and attain short and long term goals for their child.
