Anna Olson, BSN, is April’s recipient for Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa’s DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. Each month a nurse from Mercy– North Iowa is honored with The DAISY Award, which recognizes the super-human efforts nurses perform every day.
Anna is a nurse on Mercy’s Cardiac Step-Down Unit (6 West). A former patient nominated her for the award.
“Though Anna was not assigned as ‘my’ nurse, she listens and is observant while taking excellent care of her patients. For example, she put a humidifier on my oxygen to help me be more comfortable. Then to my surprise, she brought me chocolate ice cream because she heard me say that I was craving chocolate. She has a ‘can do’ and ‘I will’ attitude because ‘it’s the right thing to do.’ She will be and, in fact, already is an asset to this hospital.”
