    Mercy Medical Center - North Iowa welcomes visitors of our patients.

    General visiting hours are 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and all children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

    To protect the health of our patients, staff and other visitors, all visitors must wear shoes and be free of infection. These include but are not limited to: cold sores (herpes simplex), shingles (herpes zoster), colds, flu, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, and exposure to a communicable disease in the past three weeks.

    Based on a particular patient's need and/or preference, the nursing supervisor or the nurse caring for the patient may curtail visiting hours for that patient.

    Visitors may seek assistance from volunteers at the Information Desk in the main lobby during business hours for directions to patients' rooms.

    After hours, patient room information may be obtained by telephone connection from the information desk to the medical center switchboard. When calling from home to obtain patient room information, please call the Information Desk at 641-422-7649.

  • Telephones

    Public telephones are available for your conveniences on East and West Campus. There are pay phones near the West entrance as well as on each floor (second floor - near the surgery waiting room and third through sixth floors - near the east units). On West Campus, pay phones are located on the upper level near the Information Desk at the north end and near the elevators on the south end. On the lower level, a pay phone is located on the north end near Conference Room #7.

    Cell Phones
    Cell phone signals may interfere with medical devices. Cell phones should be turned off in all areas of the hospital except: the first floor front entrance lobby, the Mercy Emergency Center waiting room and the west entrance by the Mercy Cancer Center. Cell phones may be used outside any hospital entrance.

  • Chapels

    Chapels are available on both the East Campus (first floor) and the West Campus (Upper level) and are open 24 hours a day for prayer and quiet reflection. Mass is celebrated on the East Campus and televised on Channel 4 Monday through Friday at 11:15 a.m. and on Sunday at 10:00 a.m.

  • Meals/Cafeteria Schedule

    The cafeteria is located on the first floor on East Campus. Visitors are welcome in the cafeteria at any time. A soup, salad and sandwich bar are available throughout the day. Hot meals are served according to the following schedule:

    East Campus:
    6:30 to 9:30 a.m.
    10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
    4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

  • Wireless Internet Zone

    Guests at Mercy – North Iowa can now access the Internet wirelessly using their own portable computers. Visitors can bring their laptops or PDAs into the facility and easily access their e-mail, do some work, even look up medical information about the procedure their love one is having so they are prepared to ask questions.

    The only requirement is that the laptop or PDA is equipped with a WI-Fi compliant wireless Ethernet card and a standard Web browser (this is standard equipment on most computers).

    Wireless Internet access is available throughout Mercy – North Iowa’s entire East Campus and in the patient care areas on West Campus.

    For visitors without their own laptop, Internet access is available in the 2nd Floor Surgery waiting area and in the 6th Floor Critical Care waiting area on East Campus.

    Steps to Connect

    • How do I connect to the Internet?

      1. All of Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa East Campus has is wireless Internet (Wi-Fi) access. West Campus is limited to patient care areas only.
      2. Check to make sure your wireless Internet/Wi-Fi software and card are correctly installed and powered on.
      3. Open your Web browser. You should see a welcome page that says “Welcome to Guest Internet Access at Trinity Health.”
      4. Review the “Terms of Use” agreement on our welcome page, click “accept” to confirm your acceptance.
      5. Fill in your registration information, click "register" and you’re ready to surf the Internet.
    • Hardware Requirements

      To access the Internet you need a laptop or a PDA equipped with a Wi-Fi compliant 802.11b/g wireless ethernet card and a standard Web browser.

    • Troubleshooting

      Having difficulty connecting? Here are things to check…

      • There are a few areas, such as stairs and elevators, where no wireless is available.; Move to another area and try again if you think the wireless network (Wi-Fi) is not present.
      • Ensure that your SSID is set to “guestnet001.” Refer to your Wi-Fi card manufacturer’s instructions on how to set the SSID. If you’re using Microsoft Windows, the setup process is usually automatic.
      • Ensure that WEP encryption is disabled and authentication is set to “None.”
      • Make sure that the connection is configured for INFRASTRUCTURE mode.
        (Note: Ad-Hoc mode will not work.)
      • If any changes were made in steps 2 through 5 above, restart your computer and Web browser.
  • Corner Cup

    Mercy's Corner Cup is located in the lobby of the East Campus main entrance and features Starbucks® espresso and brewed coffees and Tazo® teas along with an assortment of cookies, muffins and scones.

    The coffee shop is open:

    • Monday - Friday, 6 AM - 5 PM
