When all academic and clinical requirements have been completed, the student will be awarded a certificate of completion at the graduation ceremony.
For students who chose to do the required general education classes through North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) and maintain a 2.0 GPA may also be awarded an A.A.S. degree in Radiologic Technology by NIACC.
Examination of Certification
Graduates of this program are eligible to take the examination in radiography sponsored by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Upon passing this examination, the initials "R.T.(R)" signifying Registered Technologist Radiographer, are used.
Certification Eligibility:
The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists requires all examinees to disclose any prior felony or misdemeanor conviction. If this situation applies to you, it is suggested that you contact the ARRT directly at 651-687-0048 to discuss your particular situation. This process is to prevent the student from having completed the two year program and then being ineligible to take the ARRT certification exam. You may also visit their website at www.arrt.org for further ethical violation information.
Additional Education
After certification in radiography, a technologist may expand his/her education by entering a program in many different modalities in other schools. There are advanced level certification examinations available in several modalities. Students may also attend college and obtain a bachelor's degree.
