Mercy Convenient Care will be relocating to Mercy Internal Medicine Clinic beginning July 1

Abstract: Hours of operation will be 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Because of this transition, Convenient Care patients will no longer register or triage in Mercy Emergency Department. Instead, patients will be directed to enter through the Main Entrance of Mercy – North Iowa East Campus and register within Mercy Internal Medicine Clinic.

Mercy Designs the Future of Healthcare during a 3P Event

Abstract: A team of community partners, architects, physicians and healthcare associates of Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa designed the future of patient care May 10 - 14 as they created a "blueprint" of Mercy – North Iowa’s new Emergency Department (ED). The week’s activities, called a 3-P event for the involvement of People, Preparation and Process, take the LEAN concept from manufacturing and apply it to the healthcare setting. LEAN has been adopted by several healthcare organizations across the nation; at Mercy – North Iowa, the Process Excellence Department has led implementation of the LEAN culture and has been in operation for more than one year. The task at hand for the approximate 75 participants was to build a life-size model of the emergency department to simulate the patient, physician and associate experience. They used real hospital equipment such as beds and monitors when it was available; when it wasn’t, they 'built' other devices, such as sinks and cupboards, from cardboard, foam board, tape and glue.
