MERCY AMBASSADORS CELEBRATE SERVICE TO HEALTH CENTER

MASON CITY -- Mercy Ambassadors held their annual recognition dinner on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at Music Man Square to celebrate and honor 350+ hospital volunteers for their service and dedication to Mercy Medical Center- North Iowa and to celebrate their largest donation to Mercy in the history of the Ambassadors.

Jan Nierling, Mercy Ambassador Board Chair, presented a check for $351,764 to Mercy Foundation to be used in the following areas:

$4,680 Rehab Services Orthotic Education & Equipment

$6,000 Interpretive Services 4 Laptops

$11,478 CCU 3 Recliners

$5,550 Dialysis – Charles City Center Scale & Blanket Warmer

$26,269 Same Day Surgery 16 Vital Signs Devices

$3,500 Speech Pathology 5 Dimmer Systems

$20,533 Custodial Services 30 Supply Carts

$3,495 Mercy Family Residency Power Wheelchair

Additionally, Mercy Ambassadors provided $3,000 for health career scholarships and donated $50 to the Globe-Gazette Cheer Fund.

Each year individuals are recognized for their hours and years of service and this year 86 volunteer received hour pins. To date, these 86 volunteers together have given a total of 137,000 hours. The following volunteers were recognized:

This year’s donation is the largest in the history of the Ambassadors. Mercy Ambassadors provide an annual donation to the health center as part of their mission of providing support to the healthcare network for the continued improvement of service and care to North Iowans.
